"The more I listen to this piece [Suite for Trumpet and Horn} the more I like it. The harmonic vocabulary is tonal yet with plenty of dissonance. It is enjoyable to play and could be presented convincingly on a collegiate recital...The repertoire for this combination is still pretty thin, and this piece is a substantive addition to it."
Dr. Jeffrey Snedeker- February 2017 "The Horn Call"

"It was a pleasure to focus on your work..... I thoroughly enjoyed it."
Kermit Moore - composer, cellist, conductor

".... your horn/trumpet duets I would have to compliment you particularly on your idiomatic writing for the instruments and the consistency of your musical language, which is at once contemporary and yet very personal."
Donald Waxman - acclaimed composer, teacher, editor Galaxy Press

"You write VERY WELL and BEAUTIFULLY for the voice--"                                                                   Kenneth Frazelle - American composer

"Thank you for writing this Suite!"

Compositions

About me.....

Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Rosemary Waltzer, a music major graduate from Michigan State University, began composing to satisfy the need for duets for her and her trumpeter husband to perform together. After making transcriptions for a while she decided to write duets specifically for trumpet and horn. Her first published work, “Suite for Trumpet and Horn” has received enthusiastic responses from players and listeners alike.

As principal horn and soloist with many orchestras and performer with a wide range of chamber ensembles, both instrumental and choral, Rosemary has extensive experience with the instruments she writes for. These exposures have enriched her perspective of composition making her music challenging but performable by pros and serious amateurs, music that people want to hear and want to play. She has enjoyed many years of chamber music performance collaborating with accomplished amateurs as well as professional musicians. It is from these musicians that she has learned about the various instruments and for them and their audiences that she writes.

Rosemary participates in the Chamber Music Conference and Composers’ Forum of the East at Bennington College in Vermont as hornist, violinist and composer. She was also the horn coach at Vermont Music & Arts Center for several years. As past president of the Rockland County Music Teachers Guild she remains active on the board, in programs, auditions, and Music Marathon and is a founder of the Rockland Youth Symphony.  Rosemary is the horn teacher at Green Meadow, a Waldorf school, where she also coaches and composes pieces for her students.

Rosemary resides, composes, and teaches horn, piano, violin and composition in New City, New York.
